Viral Cabbage Boil with Sausage, Shrimp, and Bacon
Ingredients
- 3 small green cabbages (outer leaves removed, cores trimmed out)
- 1 lb large shrimp (peeled and deveined)
- 12 oz smoked sausage (sliced)
- 8 oz bacon (chopped)
- 1 red bell pepper (diced)
- 1 green bell pepper (diced)
- 1 small onion (diced)
- 3 cloves garlic (minced)
- ¼ cup olive oil or melted butter
- 2 tablespoons Cajun seasoning (or Old Bay)
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- ½ teaspoon crushed red pepper (optional for heat)
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- Fresh parsley (for garnish)
Instructions
- Prep the Cabbages
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Cut a deep pocket in each cabbage head by carefully removing the core with a sharp knife, making room for stuffing.
- Cook the Bacon and Sausage
- In a skillet, cook bacon until crisp. Remove and set aside.
- In the same pan, sauté sausage slices until browned. Remove and set aside.
- Sauté the Veggies and Shrimp
- Add onion, garlic, and bell peppers to the bacon grease. Cook until softened.
- Toss in shrimp with Cajun seasoning and smoked paprika. Cook 2–3 minutes until just pink.
- Stuff the Cabbages
- Mix shrimp, sausage, bacon, and veggies together.
- Stuff each cabbage with the mixture, packing tightly.
- Bake
- Place cabbages in a greased baking dish. Drizzle olive oil or melted butter over the tops.
- Cover with foil and bake 45 minutes. Remove foil and bake another 15–20 minutes until golden and tender.
- Serve
- Slice open the cabbages to reveal the filling. Garnish with parsley and enjoy hot!
