Deep-Fried Strawberry Cheesecake Stuffed Wonton Bites

Ingredients

For the Filling:

  • 8 oz (225 g) cream cheese, softened
  • ¼ cup (30 g) powdered sugar
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • ¼ cup (60 g) strawberry jam or preserves
  • 2–3 fresh strawberries, finely diced (optional, for added texture and flavor)

For the Wontons:

  • 20–24 wonton wrappers
  • Small bowl of water (for sealing the edges)
  • Vegetable oil (for deep frying)

For Serving (Optional but Recommended):

  • Whipped cream
  • Extra strawberry jam or strawberry sauce (for dipping)
  • Fresh strawberries, sliced
  • Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)

Directions

1. Prepare the Cheesecake Filling

  • In a mixing bowl, add softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract.
  • Beat with a hand mixer or spoon until smooth and creamy.
  • Fold in the diced strawberries (optional) for texture.
  • Set aside.

2. Assemble the Wonton Bites

  • Lay one wonton wrapper on a clean, flat surface (keep others covered with a damp towel to prevent drying).
  • Spoon about 1 teaspoon of the cheesecake filling into the center.
  • Add a small ½ teaspoon dollop of strawberry jam directly on top of the filling if not mixed in earlier.
  • Dip your finger in water and moisten all 4 edges of the wrapper.
  • Fold the wrapper over into a triangle or envelope shape, pressing the edges firmly to seal.
  • Gently press around the filling to remove any air bubbles.
  • Repeat until all wrappers are filled.

3. Fry the Wontons

  • Heat vegetable oil in a deep skillet or saucepan to 350°F (175°C).
  • Carefully add a few wontons at a time (do not overcrowd the pan).
  • Fry for 1–2 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy.
  • Use a slotted spoon to transfer them to a plate lined with paper towels.
  • Allow to cool slightly.

4. Serve and Enjoy!

  • Serve warm with a side of whipped cream, strawberry jam or sauce, and sliced fresh strawberries.
  • Optionally, dust with powdered sugar for a beautiful, sweet finish.
  • These are best enjoyed fresh and warm, when the filling is creamy and the outside is crisp.

Tips:

  • You can freeze the assembled, uncooked wontons for later. Fry directly from frozen; just add 30 seconds to the cook time.
  • Don’t overfill the wrappers—too much filling can cause them to burst while frying.
  • For a lighter option, you can air fry them at 375°F (190°C) for 6–8 minutes, flipping halfway through, and spraying lightly with oil.
