Caramel Apple Puff Pastry

Flaky, golden puff pastry wrapped around warm caramelized apples—this dessert is simple, elegant, and absolutely delicious. Perfect for fall or anytime you’re craving something sweet but quick!

Ingredients

  • 3 medium apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp work best), peeled, cored, and diced
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour (to thicken)
  • 1 sheet frozen puff pastry, thawed
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • Optional: caramel sauce and powdered sugar for topping

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Apple Filling

  • In a medium skillet, melt butter over medium heat.
  • Add diced apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla. Stir well.
  • Cook for 5–6 minutes until the apples soften slightly.
  • Stir in flour to thicken the sauce. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.

Step 2: Prep the Puff Pastry

  • Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Roll out the thawed puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface.
  • Cut into 4 equal squares.

Step 3: Fill and Fold

  • Spoon some of the caramel apple mixture into the center of each puff pastry square.
  • Fold the pastry over into a triangle or fold the corners toward the center to enclose the filling.
  • Seal the edges by pressing with a fork.

Step 4: Egg Wash & Bake

  • Beat the egg and brush lightly over the tops of each pastry for a golden finish.
  • Bake for 18–20 minutes, or until puffed and golden brown.

Step 5: Serve

  • Drizzle with warm caramel sauce and dust with powdered sugar.
  • Best enjoyed warm straight from the oven!
