Easy Homemade Crepes Recipe

Crepes are thin, delicate French-style pancakes that can be filled with sweet or savory ingredients. Whether you love them with Nutella and strawberries, or ham and cheese, this simple recipe is the perfect base!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • ½ cup milk
  • ½ cup water
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted (plus more for cooking)

Instructions

  1. Make the Batter
    • In a medium bowl, whisk together flour and eggs.
    • Slowly add in the milk and water, whisking until smooth.
    • Add salt and melted butter; mix until well combined. Batter should be thin.
  2. Preheat the Pan
    • Heat a lightly buttered non-stick skillet or crepe pan over medium heat.
  3. Cook the Crepes
    • Pour about ¼ cup of batter into the pan.
    • Tilt and swirl the pan quickly so the batter spreads into a thin, even circle.
    • Cook for about 1–2 minutes, until edges begin to lift and bottom is lightly golden.
    • Flip and cook the other side for 30 seconds to 1 minute.
  4. Serve & Enjoy
    • Stack crepes on a plate and cover to keep warm.
    • Fill with your favorite toppings: fresh fruit, Nutella, whipped cream, jam, ham and cheese, or even eggs and veggies.

Tips & Variations

  • Sweet Crepes: Add 1 tablespoon sugar and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract to the batter.
  • Savory Crepes: Add ½ teaspoon black pepper and 1 teaspoon fresh herbs (like parsley or chives).
  • Make Ahead: Crepes can be made in advance, stacked with parchment between each, and stored in the fridge up to 3 days or frozen up to 2 months.
  • Reheat: Warm in a skillet or microwave before filling.
